COMPETITION CENTRE

Competition centre is located at Mikkeli Horse Racetrack, about 2,5 km from the Mikkeli city centre to northwest. The address is Raviradantie. You can entre to the competition centre from the Jukola gate which is located near the Horse Racetrack. The gate is designed by Mikkeli University of Applied Sciences design student Ilpo Matilainen.

TRAFFIC
All vehicles arrive to the parking areas following the road signs and instructions given by the officials. Traffic information is given in YLE Etelä-Savon Radio (94,6 MHz). 

CARS 
All cars must be parked in the parking areas following the instruction given by the officials.

Parking fee 10 EUR must be paid upon arrival. Those arriving from Jyväskylä direction will be directed straight to the parking area in Karkialampi. If you are arriving from Tampere direction it is advisable to drive through Jyväskylä. Traffic from Lappeenranta and Kouvola direction will be directed through Rinnekatu -street to the parking areas of Old barracks area (at Mikkeli University of Applied Sciences) and Urpola area. There will be a bus transport to the competition area. Traffic from North and South will arrive trough Pitkäjärvi ramp, where there is guidance to parking areas according to the availability. There will be bus transportation organised from the Old barracks area, Tusku and Karkialampi parking areas. It is highly important to follow the guidance and the instructions of the officials because there are many parking areas and the parking lots will be filled in according to the organisers plan. Parking areas are located 200-3000 metres from the competition centre. 

Parking for invited guests, media, families with children and for disabled is the closest to the competition centre. Parking tickets must be visible in the vehicle. The parking area for families with children is next to the horse racing track, close to other child care facilities. The permission for this parking area has to be requested in advance from Jukola Office. In the area there can be fitted only limited number of vehicles, therefore when the area is full it is needed to use normal car parks. Parking fee is to be paid to the area for families upon arrival to the car park.

CLUB BUSES  
Parking of the club buses is in the competition centre in Raviradantie. The unloading and loading of buses will take place in the parking area where the buses are parked. Parking tickets, that must be purchased in advance, must be visible in the bus. Passage from the loading area to the competition is goes behind the car park through sawdust track. When you cross the road please use the crosswalk. The busses which don’t stay in the area will be unloaded in the north part of the area. On Sunday the busses will be loaded in the same are. Non-stop busses will stop in the same area.

 
CARAVANS AND MOBILE HOMES  
Caravans and mobile homes will be directed to the parking area reserved specifically to them. No electricity is provided. Parking tickets, that must be purchased in advance, must be visible in the vehicle. You can also buy a parking ticket in the area, 25 Euros in cash. Caravan and mobile home park is open at 12 o’clock on Friday. There is drinking water and Toilets available in the area. Distance to the competition centre is about 1000 metres. Campfire and barbequing is forbidden in the area.  

BIKES AND MOTOR BIKES

Bikes and motor bikes must be parked in the parking area reserved specifically to them closed to the competition centre. There is no fee.

BUS TRANSPORTATION

Jukola bus stop is about 100 metres from the Travel Centre of Mikkeli (Raatihuoneenkatu -Porrassalmenkadulla (next to library). Bus transportation is free for competitors and officers. Ticket 2 e / return trip.

Schedule: Saturday 09.00 – 22.00 and Sunday 07.00 – 15.00. In every (approx.) 20 minutes

On Saturday between 9.00 – 11.00 every 40 minutes, rush hours between 11.00 – 22.00 every 20 minutes and at night rarely. On Sunday 11.00 – 15.00 every 20 minutes.

INFO  
The Info is located under the old Horse Racetrack audience, entrance from the racetrack side. Close to the info are also situated the competition office, the team material distribution stand, and the service point for the invited guests.

COMPETITION MATERIAL AND TEAM COMPOSITIONS

The competition material can be picked up from the team material distribution stand starting on Friday June 12, at 12.00 p.m. The material will be given only to clubs that have paid their entry fees and delivered their final team compositions. The team composition for both relays must be entered by Saturday, June 13th at 10.00 a.m. at the latest.

FORBIDDEN AREAS  
Any forbidden areas either at the competition centre or in the terrain are marked with fences, ropes, signs or "No admittance" -bands. Only competitors running their leg can enter the competition terrain. Trespassing on the forbidden areas causes the disqualification of all teams representing the club in question. It is also forbidden for the public to enter the competition terrain.

FOLLOWING THE COMPETITION
Starts and changeovers can be followed at the competition centre in an area reserved specifically for spectators. In the competition centre there is a video screen that shows telecasting from the competition terrain. Competition speakers can be listened to in the accommodation area in Jukola Radio (105,3 MHz).  
 
SERVICE TENTS  
Service tents of the clubs can be set up at the tent sites shown by the officials. The clubs that have reserved a service tent site can see their numbered reservation on the website, on the notice board and in the outskirts of the service tent site. Camping at the service tent area is forbidden. Please read also the instructions for Open fire.  

MILITARY TENTS

Military tents (350) will be set up in the end of the middle area of the Horse Racetrack. The tents will be numbered. The clubs that have reserved a Military tent have a named tent. Te numbered and named tents are seen on the website, in the outskirts of the tent area, on the notice board. More information in the Info. Guidance in the area starting on Friday June 12 at 9.00 am.

SCHOOL ACCOMMODATION

Those who booked a school accommodation need to bring their own mattress, sleeping bag and towel. There are toilets and showers available. Please do not walk wearing your orienteering shoes inside the school and do not wash them the school premises. If you have reserved a school accommodation the Jukola offices will mail the parking tickets to he accommodation parking lot before Jukola. Parking tickets must be visible in the car. The ticket must be paid upon arrival to the parking lot (10 Euros). The school accommodation is open on Friday June 12 at 18 pm.

 
ACCOMMODATION AREAS


The areas for own tents are located in a very popular airing and amenity area, therefore its highly important to keep the area clean. In the area grows also rare pasque flower and those areas are market with ropes. The organiser hopes the clubs wouldn’t reserve oversize areas for the tents.

Toukola is fir forest, area on southwest from the competition centre.

Toukola 2 is flat pine and fir moorland, are near the car park, about 1 km from the competition centre.

Both areas are ideal for those who arrive from Jyväskylä direction

 
Viertola is fir forest moorland about 400 metres to the south from the competition centre. The area is cleared forest. The organiser recommends touse saws to shorten down stumps.  

Impivaara 1 is flat for moorland forest on the east side of the competition centre. The organiser recommends touse saws to shorten down stumps. The area is next to nature reserve and a cemetery for pets, please respect them (Market "No admittance" -bands)

Impivaara 2 is flat pine moorland about 1,5 km from the competition centre. Also this area is next to the nature reserve area. Walk throught the area only along the market route.  

The accommodation area map can be found from the Jukola website, from Jukola map and the programme.

OPEN FIRE

It is forbidden to make open fire at the competition centre or in the accommodation areas. The use of camping cookers and heating stoves inside the tents is also forbidden. The use of the open fires is controlled.  

DRINKING WATER  
There are plenty of water taps at the competition centre and accommodation areas. There are water taps in every building. It is forbidden to use these taps for washing sporting equipments. Sport equipment washing point is situated near the showers in the front of the ice hockey hall.

WASTE DISPOSAL  
There are several waste disposal points in the competition centre. It is wished that spectators assort their waste. The disposal points are market in the area map and they are pointed out with a balloon. In the competition material there are two litter bags delivered to each team, one for the energy waste and one for other than the energy waste.

TOILETS  
There are several toilets in the competition centre and they are all marked in the area maps and also pointed out with a balloon. Please note that in the start and changeover area there are 40 toilets. There are overall 228 toilets in the competition centre or neighbourhood.

 
WASHING  
The largest washing area is located behind the Ice Hockey Hall and marked in the map in the program booklet. The washing area is equipped with 50 showers and a tent sauna. Use of washing detergent is not allowed. The organiser arranges needed detergents.

The sauna will be warm from Saturday 15.00 until Sunday 15.00., and it costs 2 EUR. Tickets can be bought in advance at the Info or pay at the sauna. In addition the ice hockey halls showers are available (4 dressing rooms + showers). Horse Racetracks showers are available for men during Venla relay and for women during Jukola. The time of use is limited. More information on these showers on the notice board.

FIRST AID  

At the competition centre, there is a first aid station with a doctor. The location is indicated in the maps in the program booklets and the competition bulletin. There are also three first aid points in the competition terrain, which are marked on the competition maps. One first aid station is located at the changeover fence, too.

TRAINING AND SELLING OF MAPS  
Model orienteering and training maps are sold at the Info tent for 5 EUR each. Emit recharging of the model orienteering is at the Info. Model orienteering terrain is next to the competition centre.   
Competition maps with all controls are sold on Sunday at 10.00 am onwards at the Info for 5 EUR each.
 
Own maps used in the competition shall be handed out in return to the return card in the team materials. If the team has not ordered the maps in advance, the maps can be bought by the teams for 20 EUR per Jukola team and 12 EUR per Venla team.

 
BANK SERVICES  
The restaurants at the competition centre (not grills), the Jukola shop and the competition office all accept credit cards (Visa, Visa Electron, MasterCard, Maestro Card).  

POST OFFICE  
Postal services are available at the Jukola-shop. Mikkeli-Jukola has its own stamp and postal stamp.

 
ECCLESIASTICAL SERVICES
 
The Lutheran Congregation of  Mikkeli organizes a traditional Forest Mass on Saturday June 13 at 21.00. The Forest Church is located about 700 metres from the competition centre.

 
TAXI  
There is a taxi stand in the competition centre near the Jukola gate.

PLAYGROUND FOR CHILDREN, “GAME CONTROL”, AND CHILDRENS’ ORIENTEERING EVENT, "RASTIRALLI"

ESLIs sport circus point near the badminton hall has many guided actions for children.  

In the first hall the children can play floor ball and the second hall is reserved for the younger children to play independently. In the same hall you can find a nursing table, microwave and water boiler.

Sport circus is open on Saturday 12.00 – 21.00 (22.00) and nursing room trough the night until Sunday 12 am.

Rastiralli is open on Saturday 12.00 – 20.00. Map and material fee of 2 EUR.

 
There is a specific place for children to play in (see map). GAME CONTROL IS NOT GUARDED.  

SAFE FOR VALUABLE ITEMS

Safe for valuable items is located in the air house. The closeness of the city needs to be kept in mind and keep the valuable items in a safe place.  

FUNDRAISING


In the lobby of ice hockey there is fundraising for Kalevi Hämäläinen’s statue project and for the veteran of war.  

PRIZE-GIVING CEREMONIES


The best 15 Venla teams will be awarded. The teams are requested to arrive to the benches reserved for the winning teams at 20.20 to the north side of the stage. The best 25 teams will be awarded in Jukola. The teams are asked to arrive to the benches reserved for the winning teams at 09.20 to the north side of the stage.

RADIO PHONES  
Except for organizers, the use of radio phones using the VHF frequency is strictly forbidden in the competition area.

USING TRACK SHOES INSIDE THE BUILDINGS FORBIDDEN

Using track shoes inside the competition area buildings and schools is forbidden.  

FORBIDDEN ACTIONS  
It is forbidden to advertise, sell or buy any products etc. at any part of the competition area (including accommodation areas, parking areas, competition centre etc.) without a written permission from the organizers.  

RUNNERS BANK  
During the whole relay there is a Runners Bank available in the Internet where teams can seek runners to replace missing team members. For further details, please visit www.jukola2009.net. Near the Info, there is a notice board for contact information. The Runners Bank works as a self service activity.

LOST AND FOUND  
All found items are asked to be taken to the Info. During the competition, lost items can be inquired from the Info.
