Warm weather and cheerful feel in the opening ceremony |

The Jukola flag was hoisted and the military band played when the 61st Jukola Relay and 32nd Venla Relay were opened. There were a lot of people gathered in the opening. The weather was warm and partly cloudy.
The chairman of organising committee Heino Lipsanen welcomed record
number of participants to Kalevankangas in Mikkeli. He wished pleasant
moments within orienteering. He acknowledged the 1600 officials who
have volunteered to the competition.
The chairman of Mikkeli City Council and Member of Parliament, Olli
Nepponen said that he appreciates that Mikkeli has received the honor
to organise the Jukola competition. He congratulated Navj ry for
successful arrangements.
In the end the Bishop of Mikkeli Bishopric Seppo Häkkinen blessed the competition
