The leading team after second leg, Halden SK from Norway, leads by six minutes after third leg. The third runner of Halden, Anders Norberg run the “long night” in 1.22.03 and left Jonas Pilblad from IFK Göteborg behind him.
Norberg started in lead and therefore could feel easy about his performance. He said also that he liked the course a lot.
- My team members did a real good job and I could do my own run. When
I’m able to orienteer alone I can relax better, Norberg said.
Swedish OK Orion was third team to arrive to change-over. Hannu Airila
from Kalevan Rasti was fourth, difference to Norwegians was seven and
half minutes.
Because Swedish Pilblad committed a foul, Hannu Airila was a moment on
second position. At the end of the leg Pilblad overhauled Airila again.
In the end also OK Orion overhauled Airila and Kalevan Rasti was
fourth.
The third leg of Jukola Relay is called “long night” because it is so
demanding. The leg is one of the longest legs in the competition and it
is run during dark time. In Mikkeli-Jukola the length of third leg is
14,5-14,7 kilometres. Only the final leg is longer than this one.
After the third leg the competition was about fifteen minutes behind the original schedule.
